Toto Windows & Doors: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide

If you have a Toto window or door that’s sticking, leaking, or won’t close square, we can usually match the part and install it within a week. Depending on what’s failed, you’re looking at roughly $450 to $2,500 for the parts and labor here in San Antonio. The most common discovery path we hear from homeowners is simple: a window that used to glide now grinds, or a patio door that needs a shoulder to latch. Usually by then, a roller or hinge has been wearing down for months without anyone noticing.

We’re an independent remodeling contractor serving San Antonio, not a Toto dealer or factory rep. That matters because we’re not married to one parts pipeline. We match what’s actually on your home, whether that’s the original Toto component or a quality aftermarket equivalent that fits the same measurements and carries the same wear rating. Graham Stein keeps every scope written down before work starts, so you’ll see the part number, the cost, and the labor as separate lines before you approve anything.

Which Toto Models This Applies To

Toto’s window and door lines have shifted names over the years, and San Antonio homes built in different decades tend to carry different series. The sliding patio doors from the 1990s and early 2000s are the ones we see most often in neighborhoods like Stone Oak, Alamo Heights, and the older pockets around King William, where the frames are still solid but the rollers and tracks are past their service life. The aluminum-frame Toto sliders respond well to roller and track replacement. The vinyl-frame units are trickier, because the frame channel dimensions changed between series generations, and a roller that’s off by 3 millimeters will bind or sag.

Identifying your unit is faster than most people expect. Look inside the door or window frame for a sticker or an etched label. On sliders, it’s usually on the top or bottom rail. The sticker will give you a series code and a manufacture date. If the sticker is gone, measure the roller width, wheel diameter, and the track channel width. Those three numbers pin down the right part almost every time. OEM Toto parts are still available for many common series, but they’re not always the best choice on a twenty-year-old door. An aftermarket roller with sealed stainless bearings often outlasts the original plastic-wheel design that shipped with early Toto units.

Signs Your Toto Windows & Doors Is Failing

  • You have to lift the door to get it moving. That’s a roller failure. The wheel has flattened or the bearing seized, and every forced slide is scraping the track. Left alone, it will score the aluminum beyond reasonable repair.
  • The door closes but won’t stay closed. The latch or strike plate has shifted. On Toto sliders, the strike is often a thin stamped piece that bends over time, especially in the repeated expansion and contraction of San Antonio summers.
  • Air moves around the frame on windy days. Weatherstripping has compressed or torn. Toto’s older pile-style strips lose their loft after about eight to ten years in Texas heat.
  • Condensation between the double panes. The seal has failed. Once moisture is between the glass, no cleaning fixes it. The glass insert typically gets replaced, not the whole frame, which saves a lot of money.
  • The window is hard to crank or slides down on its own. The balancer or operator gear has worn out. This is one of the more common failures on Toto’s double-hung and casement models in San Antonio homes built in the 2000s.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A low-threshold walk-in shower with a bench and grab bar

In San Antonio, most Toto window and door part replacements land between $450 and $2,500 installed. A simple roller and track replacement on a sliding patio door typically runs $450 to $900. Weatherstripping and seal replacement on one door or a few windows falls around $200 to $700. A glass insert replacement for a failed double-pane runs $600 to $1,800 depending on size and glass type. A full door replacement, frame and all, lands in the $1,500 to $2,500 range when we’re reusing the existing opening.

What drives the price is whether we’re swapping a part or rebuilding a surface, and how much time the track or frame needs. Every quote is written out with the part line and the labor line kept separate. You’ll see exactly what you’re paying for before we order anything. Our work is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if something isn’t done right after we leave, we make it right. No re-quote, no argument.

DIY or Call Us?

Roller replacement looks simple on paper, and we won’t pretend it’s rocket science. But on a Toto slider, the door can weigh 80 to 120 pounds, and pulling it out without help or without dropping the frame is where we see homeowners get hurt or damage the track. Weatherstripping is safer as a DIY job, though matching the channel profile exactly matters, and most big-box strips don’t fit Toto’s older extrusions well. The honest split is this: if you’re working with a screwdriver and a plastic part, go ahead. If you’re lifting glass out of a frame or pulling a heavy slab, call us at (432) 233-0976 and we’ll send someone who does this on Toto units regularly. The estimate is free.
