KraftMaid Bathroom Remodeling: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide

If you have a KraftMaid vanity, cabinet, or bathroom storage piece that’s failing, the good news is this: we install, replace, and retrofit KraftMaid bathroom components throughout San Antonio, and a full bathroom remodel with KraftMaid cabinetry typically runs between $9,000 and $28,000 installed. Most homeowners discover a problem through visible water damage, a drawer that no longer closes square, or a hinge that has pulled loose from the cabinet face. This page walks you through how to identify what failed, what it costs to fix or replace, and what we do differently when we walk into a San Antonio home with kids and dogs underfoot.

We are an independent remodeling contractor in San Antonio, not a KraftMaid affiliate. But we’ve worked with their cabinet lines long enough to know which failures are true warranty issues, which ones are installer error, and which ones are just Texas humidity doing what Texas humidity does.

Which KraftMaid Models This Applies To

A small remodeled galley kitchen with cabinets to the ceiling

KraftMaid builds bathroom cabinetry across several lines, and the part that failed on your piece depends on which line you have and when it was installed. The Vantage and Venicia lines use different hinge mounting plates than the core KraftMaid line, and Venicia uses a frameless construction that means replacement doors and drawer fronts must be ordered to a different overlay spec. If you have a KraftMaid core line vanity, your doors are likely face-frame mounted, which makes hinge replacement straightforward. If you have Venicia, the cabinet box itself is frameless, and a warped door often means the box has shifted too, which changes the repair entirely.

Here’s what to look for when identifying your part: open a drawer or door and look for a small white or silver label on the inside of the cabinet box, usually on the side rail or the underside of the top drawer. KraftMaid stamps the cabinet line, the door finish code, and the production date there. That production date matters. Drawer glides and soft-close mechanisms made before roughly 2015 use a different mounting footprint than current production, and you cannot swap the old glide for a new one without drilling new holes or using adapter plates. If the label is missing, measure the door overlay front to back, not just width and height. That single measurement is the difference between ordering a door that fits and one that sits a quarter-inch proud of the cabinet face.

The OEM versus aftermarket decision matters here. KraftMaid hinges and glides are typically made by Blum or Grass, and you can often buy the identical mechanism direct from those manufacturers for less than the KraftMaid-branded box. But the finish-matched doors, drawer fronts, and cabinet boxes are only available through KraftMaid dealers. If your door is cracked or swollen at the bottom edge, no aftermarket part will match the finish grain or sheen. That’s when a replacement door panel through a KraftMaid dealer is the only option that won’t look like a patch job.

Signs Your KraftMaid Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Drawer glides that catch, sag, or scrape. The soft-close damper inside the glide has worn out or the nylon roller has flattened. Once the roller flattens, the drawer rides on the metal track and grooves it, which means the new glide will never sit perfectly level unless the track is replaced too.
  • Hinges that have pulled out of the cabinet face. In San Antonio’s humidity swings, particleboard and MDF expand and contract enough to loosen hinge screws over time. The screw holes wallow out, and tightening them usually strips what’s left. This is a fixable failure, but it needs epoxy-filled holes or threaded inserts, not a longer screw.
  • Door or drawer front swelling at the bottom edge. Water from the sink splash zone or from a kid stepping out of the tub has wicked into the core through an edge that was never sealed after a previous adjustment. Once the core swells, the door never sits flush again, and replacement is the honest fix.
  • Soft-close doors that slam. The damper cartridge inside the hinge cup is shot. If you have one door slamming and the one next to it closing gently, that confirms the hinge is the failure, not the cabinet alignment.
  • Finish peeling at the top edge of the vanity doors. This is often heat and humidity from a bathroom without adequate ventilation, not a manufacturing defect. The finish lifts at the grain lines first because that’s where moisture exits the wood. The fix is a new door and a better bathroom fan, in that order.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A walk-in pantry with wood shelving

In the San Antonio market, a full bathroom remodel using KraftMaid cabinetry, including the vanity, countertop, sink, faucet, and installation, runs between $9,000 and $28,000. The range is wide because it depends on vanity width, whether you’re doing a single or double basin, whether we’re replacing tile or keeping the existing footprint, and whether the shut-off valves or plumbing stub-outs need to move. A standalone KraftMaid vanity replacement, where we pull the old cabinet and install the new one without touching the rest of the bathroom, is narrower: $800 to $3,000 for the vanity installation portion alone, plus the cabinet itself.

Scope Typical Installed Range
Full bathroom remodel with KraftMaid cabinetry $9,000 – $28,000
Small bathroom remodel (KraftMaid vanity, single basin) $5,000 – $12,000
Bathroom vanity installation (labor, no tile work) $800 – $3,000
Walk-in shower installation (with KraftMaid-adjacent cabinetry) $4,500 – $12,000
Tub-to-shower conversion $3,500 – $10,000

What drives the price, honestly: the width of the vanity, whether the plumbing stubs are in the right place or need a plumber to relocate them, whether we’re repairing drywall or tile behind the old cabinet, and the finish grade of the KraftMaid line you choose. You’ll get a written price before any work starts, with the line items broken out so you can see exactly what the cabinet costs, what the labor costs, and what the plumbing costs. That price is the price. If we open the wall and find something we didn’t plan for, we stop and talk to you before any change order is written. Nothing gets added to the number after demo day without your signature.

Every KraftMaid-related installation we do carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a drawer binds, a door sags, or a soft-close hinge stops doing its job within a year of installation, we come back and make it right on our time.

DIY or Call Us?

Cabinet parts and bathroom remodeling are not dangerous the way garage-door springs or electrical panels are, so the DIY conversation here is about fit, finish, and frustration rather than safety. If your hinge has unscrewed itself and the hole is still tight, you can re-seat the screw and move on. If a drawer glide is dirty or jammed with a kid’s hair tie, cleaning it is a ten-minute job. Where DIY usually goes wrong: drilling out a wallowed hinge hole without the right inserts, measuring a drawer front without accounting for the reveal on both sides, or ordering a replacement part off a big-box shelf that looks close but has the wrong overlay. We’ve walked behind enough of those attempts in houses around San Antonio, including older homes near the King William Historic District where the cabinet was never square to begin with and the “fix” made the reveal worse. If the part isn’t clearly identifiable and the repair isn’t a clean screw-and-done, call us at (432) 233-0976 and we’ll take a look. The visit and the written estimate don’t cost you anything.
