Cambria Bathroom Remodeling: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
Cambria bathroom remodeling in San Antonio typically runs $9,000 to $28,000 installed, depending on the number of surfaces, plumbing changes, and whether we’re matching existing slab remnants or ordering new material from Cambria’s current design palette. If you have a Cambria surface that’s chipped, cracked, separated at a seam, or a vanity top that has failed around the sink, we can usually match the slab or recommend a compatible replacement and have it priced in writing before any demo starts. The way most San Antonio homeowners discover a problem is quiet: a hairline crack near the faucet, a dull spot that won’t polish back, or a seam that has opened slightly and catches a fingernail.
Elmstead Remodeling San Antonio is an independent remodeling contractor. We are not affiliated with Cambria, but we buy directly from authorized Cambria distributors in Texas, which means the slabs arrive with the manufacturer’s own documentation and warranty intact.
Which Cambria Models This Applies To

This page applies to Cambria quartz surfaces used as vanity tops, tub decks, shower thresholds, shower seat tops, wainscot panels, and accent walls inside San Antonio bathrooms. Cambria doesn’t sell through big-box stores; every slab is sold through a controlled distribution network, and the slab you have was cut from a specific lot with a design name like Brittanicca, Torquay, Ella, Summerhill, or Portrush that was current at the time it was fabricated. If the original fabricator wrote the design name and lot number on the back side of the slab, that’s the fastest path to a match; if not, we document the pattern with photos and take a physical sample to our distributor to compare against current production.
The practical compatibility issue with Cambria is this: the same design name can vary slightly in background tone from year to year because natural quartz and pigments shift. A slab called Torquay produced in 2018 may sit a shade lighter or darker than a slab produced in 2025. For a vanity top replacement, that matters very little. For a patch or a seam repair where we need a small section to blend, we’ll pull actual samples and hold them against the existing surface in your bathroom’s lighting before ordering. That check avoids the most common disappointment: a color decision made in a showroom that reads differently under bathroom vanity lights.
We stock Cambria-compatible sink clips, undermount brackets, color-matched seam adhesive from Integra, and silicone sealant rated for quartz contact. We do not stock full Cambria slabs on site, but our San Antonio distributor holds current production and most designs can be ordered within seven to ten days.

Signs Your Cambria Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Hairline crack running from the faucet hole toward the front edge. This usually starts because the faucet was over-tightened at installation or the slab settled unevenly after the vanity shifted. Quartz is strong in compression but brittle at a drilled hole edge; a crack there typically widens with temperature changes in San Antonio’s warm, humid bathrooms.
- A seam that has widened enough to catch a fingernail. Cambria seams are filled with color-matched adhesive at fabrication. Over time, seasonal expansion and the drying effect of Texas air conditioning can cause a tight seam to open a fraction of a millimeter. Water gets in, the darker line grows, and the seam becomes a cleaning problem and then a structural one.
- Dull spots or cloudy areas that don’t respond to the recommended Cambria cleaner. Quartz has low porosity, but aggressive cleaners, hard water buildup, or years of contact with minerals in San Antonio water can etch the polish. A professional can re-hone and re-polish some spots; if the clouding is deep, the fix is a new slab section.
- Chipping along the front edge, especially near corners. Edge profiles with sharp square corners chip more readily than eased or rounded profiles. A dropped ceramic soap dish or a child climbing on the counter is usually the cause. Small chips can be repaired with adhesive filler; larger chips usually mean edge re-profiling or slab replacement.
- The sink has dropped slightly or the undermount is pulling away. The adhesive holding the sink to the underside of a Cambria slab can degrade over a decade or more, particularly if the cabinet below has ever leaked. A failing bond lets water sit between the sink flange and the quartz, eventually darkening the stone and encouraging mildew in the joint.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For San Antonio bathrooms, a Cambria vanity top replacement with new sink, faucet, plumbing trim, and installation typically lands between $9,000 and $28,000 depending on slab square footage, sink configuration, whether the backsplash is included, and whether the vanity below needs work. Here’s what goes into that number so you can compare bids honestly:
- Cambria slab and fabrication: $4,500 to $12,000 depending on design, edge profile, sink cutouts, and number of pieces.
- Sink, faucet, drain, and P-trap: $400 to $2,200 depending on brand (we regularly install Kohler, Moen, and Grohe in San Antonio baths) and finish.
- Demo and haul-off of the existing top: $300 to $900, including floor protection and disposal fees.
- Plumbing rough-in adjustments: $200 to $1,200 if the supply lines or shutoff valves need to move to fit the new sink.
- Vanity repair or replacement: $800 to $3,000 if the wood below is swollen, the hinges are failing, or the cabinet has taken water damage.
- Shower or tub deck work with Cambria: $2,500 to $8,000 when we’re replacing a threshold, wrapping a tub deck, or adding a Cambria shower seat.

DIY or Call Us?
There are things you can safely do yourself before calling. You can find your slab’s design name by checking under the sink or behind a removable backsplash for a label, and you can photograph the damaged area in daylight with a ruler in the frame so we can see scale. You cannot safely remove and replace a Cambria vanity top yourself. A full slab for a standard 60-inch double vanity weighs 200 to 400 pounds; lifting it wrong damages the top, the vanity, the plumbing, or your back. Matching a seam adhesive correctly, re-profiling a polished edge, and setting an undermount sink so it doesn’t drop are all skilled tasks. For anything beyond cleaning and documenting, call (432) 233-0976 and we’ll schedule a site visit and give you a written price.
FAQs

Cambria quartz has no set expiration date; with normal use and a neutral pH cleaner, a vanity top can last 20 to 40 years before you might see meaningful wear. The things that shorten that lifespan in San Antonio are hard water mineral buildup, harsh acidic or abrasive cleaners, and repeated impact on square edges. If you inherited a Cambria top from a previous homeowner, the slab itself is probably still serviceable; it’s usually the sink, faucet, or seam adhesive that fails first.
Small chips under a quarter inch can often be filled with a color-matched adhesive that hides the damage reasonably well, and some clouding can be polished out on-site. A structural crack running through a faucet hole or across a corner is not reliably repairable; the repair will keep failing as the slab expands and contracts. For anything beyond cosmetic fill work, we’ll walk you through the math for repair versus replacement before you commit to either. Call (432) 233-0976 and we’ll look at it together.
A straightforward vanity top replacement takes two to four days: one day for demo and template verification, one to two days for fabrication at our local Cambria distributor partner, and one day for install and plumbing reconnection. A larger bathroom remodel with Cambria panels, shower threshold, or tub deck work typically runs two to three weeks depending on plumbing and tile scope. We’ll put the schedule in the written quote, and we’ll keep it.
We don’t warehouse full slabs in our shop, but we work with authorized Cambria distributors in the San Antonio area and stock the consumable parts on our trucks: undermount clips, color-matched adhesives, quartz-safe silicone, and edge-polishing pads. That means most minor repairs can happen on the first visit, while a new slab order takes about seven to ten days from template to install. We also install baths using products from KraftMaid, Silestone, and Kohler when a homeowner wants those brands.
