Atlas Kitchen Remodeling: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
If you have an Atlas kitchen and something’s failed, we can source the correct replacement part, match it to your existing cabinetry and hardware, and install it for a typical price of $14,000 – $45,000 depending on scope. Most Atlas kitchens we see in San Antonio use standard 3/4-inch cabinet box construction with 1/2-inch backs, which means most hinges, drawer glides, and pull-out mechanisms are serviceable without replacing the entire cabinet run. You’ll usually discover a failed part the same way our clients do: a drawer that suddenly drags, a hinge that won’t hold the door flush, or a soft-close mechanism that now slams.
We’re an independent San Antonio contractor. We are not affiliated with Atlas, but we’ve worked on enough of their kitchens in Alamo Heights, Stone Oak, and Terrell Hills to know how these parts age, what fails first, and what matches without forcing anything.
Which Atlas Models This Applies To

Atlas kitchens vary by builder and era, so the first thing we do on a service call is identify the cabinet line. Older Atlas kitchens in San Antonio, particularly in neighborhoods built in the 1990s and early 2000s, tend to use face-frame cabinets with exposed hinges. Newer models, especially in homes built after 2010, lean toward frameless, full-overlay construction with concealed cup hinges. The difference matters because hinge replacement is not interchangeable between the two styles.
The quickest way to identify your part: open a door and look at the hinge cup. Concealed hinges have a brand stamp and a model number inside the cup itself, often Blum, Grass, or Salice. Drawer glides will have a stamp on the side rail. If you can’t find a stamp, take a photo of the drawer extended and send it our way. For Atlas-specific hardware, we default to OEM first. If OEM is discontinued, we’ll recommend a Blum or Grass equivalent that matches the bore pattern and overlay without drilling new holes. KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone are other brands we stock parts for, and many Atlas kitchens in San Antonio were built with KraftMaid cabinet boxes, so cross-compatibility is common.

Signs Your Atlas Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Drawer won’t close flush or drifts open. The glide has lost its detent or a soft-close piston has leaked. On Atlas face-frame kitchens, the front-to-back drawer alignment can also shift when the mounting screws loosen in the cabinet face.
- Door hangs crooked or rubs the frame. A hinge plate has slipped or a cup hinge spring has fatigued. San Antonio humidity cycles cause the particleboard around hinge screws to swell and crumble, which is why we often repair with threaded inserts rather than re-driving the same screw.
- Soft-close slam. The damper inside the hinge or glide is a consumable. Texas heat shortens its life, especially under the cooktop where cabinets sit close to the oven’s ventilation path.
- Pull-out shelf or trash bin binds or tips. The lower slides on Atlas pull-outs carry serious weight, and once the nylon rollers flatten, the mechanism won’t travel evenly. This is the most common failure we see in King William Historic District kitchens where original cabinetry was retrofitted with aftermarket pull-outs.
- Face frame crack at the hinge cutout. On older Atlas face-frame doors, the wood dries out and splits right at the hinge mortise. It starts as a hairline crack and eventually the door sags. This is a repair we can do without replacing the whole door.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In San Antonio, a full kitchen remodel with Atlas-compatible replacement parts runs $14,000 – $45,000. A small kitchen refresh runs $9,000 – $20,000. Cabinet hardware and drawer-glide replacement is usually the low end of that range, while full cabinet installation runs $4,000 – $13,000 and countertop installation runs $2,000 – $6,500. Here’s how the pricing breaks down:
- Hinge replacement (per door): $25 – $65 installed, including the part and adjustment
- Drawer glide replacement (per drawer): $45 – $110 installed, depending on soft-close and weight rating
- Pull-out shelf conversion: $180 – $420 per cabinet
- Full kitchen hardware package: $1,200 – $3,800 installed
- Complete kitchen remodel with cabinets, countertops, and backsplash: $14,000 – $45,000
The range depends on whether we’re swapping hardware on existing boxes or replacing cabinet runs entirely. Every quote is a written price before any work starts, so the number you sign is the number you pay. No change orders, no surprise line items after demo day. And every completed job carries our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if it is not done right, we make it right.
DIY or Call Us?
Replacing a hinge on a frameless Atlas cabinet is something a careful homeowner can do with a Phillips screwdriver, provided the existing hinge is a standard 35mm cup and the bore pattern matches. What goes wrong in San Antonio homes is the wood around the screw holes. Once particleboard crumbles, simply re-driving the screw makes it worse. We use threaded inserts and epoxy fillers that restore the mount point, and that’s not a job we recommend attempting without the right materials on hand.
Drawer glides are trickier. Atlas glides must be mounted square within a sixteenth of an inch or the drawer will bind. If you’re unsure, call us at (432) 233-0976. We’ll walk through what you’re seeing, and if it needs a hand, we’ll schedule the visit. If it’s a simple adjustment, we’ll tell you that too.
FAQs

Most Atlas hinges and glides last 15 – 20 years under normal use, but Texas heat and humidity cycles cut that to 10 – 15 years in unconditioned or poorly ventilated kitchens. Soft-close dampers fail first, typically at the 7 – 10 year mark. Call (432) 233-0976 if your cabinets are slamming earlier than that; sometimes the fix is a damper swap, not a full glide replacement.
Yes, in specific cases. Face-frame hinge cracks can often be epoxied and re-mounted with threaded inserts. Soft-close mechanisms can sometimes be replaced as a sub-component if the brand stamp matches. If the part is too far gone or the bore pattern is non-standard, replacement is the honest call. We’ll price the repair and the replacement side by side so you can decide.
A full hardware replacement on a standard 10×12 San Antonio kitchen takes one to two working days. A single hinge or glide repair takes under an hour. We cover floors with drop cloths and wear shoe covers from the moment we walk in, and we send a photo of the clean-up before the crew leaves.
We stock the most common Atlas-compatible hinges, glides, and soft-close dampers on the truck for San Antonio service calls. If your part is less common or the finish is discontinued, we source it within two to four business days and confirm the lead time on your written quote before any work begins.
