Silestone Home Additions & ADU: The San Antonio Owner’s Guide
If you’re planning a home addition or ADU in San Antonio and want Silestone surfaces in the new space, the installed project typically runs between $45,000 and $130,000 for an addition, and $90,000 to $220,000 for a full ADU build. We stock Silestone slabs and coordinate templating and installation as part of the project, so the countertops arrive from the same project plan as the framing, plumbing, and electrical. That matters because a countertop ordered late, or measured wrong, stalls an entire project by weeks.
Most San Antonio homeowners reach out to us at the point where they have either outgrown their house and are deciding between moving and adding on, or they have a garage or side yard that could become rentable living space. The Silestone question usually comes second: “Can we get Silestone in the new kitchen or bath, and what does that add?” The answer is yes, and the cost is a line item in the written price, not a surprise at the end.
Which Silestone Models This Applies To

Silestone is a quartz surface made by Consentino, and the product lines that San Antonio homeowners choose for additions and ADUs most often are the standard 1.2 cm, 2 cm, and 3 cm slabs in the Eternal, Loft, and Sunlit Days series. Jumbo slabs measure roughly 128 inches by 63 inches, which matters when an island in a new addition runs longer than a standard slab can cover. The compatibility question for us is not whether Silestone “fits” a room; it is whether the slab size matches the countertop layout without an extra seam.
When we template for a Silestone install in an ADU or addition, we record the lot number and batch code from the slab label, because quartz color can shift slightly between production runs. If you need a matching piece later, for a windowsill or a small vanity in the same room, that code tells us which batch to source. For aftermarket or generic quartz, we do not recommend it when the client wants a true Silestone warranty on the finished surface. The Silestone warranty travels with the slab, but only when the installation follows Consentino’s fabrication specs, and we follow those on every project we quote.

Signs Your Silestone Home Additions & ADU Is Failing
- Seam separation at the countertop joint. This happens when the addition settles or the cabinet bases were not leveled before the slab went down. Silestone does not flex; the gap at the seam is the slab telling you the structure under it moved.
- Chipping at the edge of the sink cutout. This is almost always from fabrication, not from daily use. A router running too fast or a dull diamond bit leaves micro-fractures that become visible chips within the first year.
- Discoloration around the faucet or cooktop. Quartz resists staining, but hard water minerals from San Antonio’s limestone aquifer can build a film that looks like fading. It is cleanable, but it should not be happening on a slab that was sealed and polished correctly.
- A dull patch near a window. Direct Texas sun, especially on a south-facing addition wall, will fade some Silestone colors over time. The Eternal series holds color better than the lighter Sunlit Days colors in full exposure.
- Water pooling at the backsplash seam. If the addition’s wall was not dry and straight when the backsplash was set, the silicone joint fails and water gets behind the slab. That leads to cabinet damage below the counter, which is a bigger repair.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

The Silestone portion of a San Antonio home addition or ADU project is a line item inside the larger scope. For a kitchen in a new addition, the Silestone countertop installation itself typically runs $2,000 to $6,500, depending on slab choice, edge profile, and the number of sink and cooktop cutouts. In an ADU with a compact kitchen, expect the lower end of that range. A bathroom vanity top in Silestone usually falls between $800 and $3,000.
What is included in our written price: the slab, fabrication, templating, delivery, install, the sink and faucet cutouts, the edge profile you choose, and the silicone and adhesive. What is not included: plumbing hookup of the faucet and drain, which is a separate plumbing line item. The price is written before any work starts, and it does not change unless you change the scope. We are an independent San Antonio remodeling contractor, not a Silestone dealer or affiliate.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check a few things yourself if you have a Silestone surface in an existing home and are thinking about matching it in an addition. Look at the underside of the slab near the sink for a small label with the color name and batch code. Measure the overhang and the thickness at the edge so you know whether you have 2 cm or 3 cm material. Write those numbers down, and bring them when you call us. That saves a trip.
What you should not try to do is move, cut, or repair a Silestone slab yourself. A full slab weighs hundreds of pounds, and quartz dust from cutting is a respiratory hazard. The fabrication requires wet-cutting diamond tooling and a controlled shop environment. If the existing counter in your San Antonio home needs repair before an addition project starts, call us at (432) 233-0976 and we will send someone who has handled Silestone for years.
FAQs

Silestone quartz countertops routinely last 25 years or more when fabricated and installed correctly, and the manufacturer’s warranty backs the surface for a set term from the original install date. Texas sun exposure on a south-facing wall may fade certain lighter colors faster, so choose the Eternal series for full-sun rooms. Call (432) 233-0976 if you want to see slab samples in your actual lighting before you choose.
Small chips and seam gaps can often be repaired with color-matched epoxy and re-polishing, especially if the damage is at an edge or a seam rather than across the face of the slab. Deep cracks that run through the full thickness usually mean replacement. We will tell you which one you have after looking at it, and the written quote covers exactly the repair or replacement you need.
Once the slab is templated, fabrication takes about one to two weeks, and installation is usually a single day in San Antonio. The total project timeline for a home addition or ADU is much longer, typically several months, because framing, electrical, plumbing, and inspections all come before the countertop does. We sequence the Silestone templating so the countertop is ready when the cabinets are set, not before and not after.
We order Silestone slabs per project from our local San Antonio fabrication partners, so you choose the exact color and series rather than picking from leftover inventory. We also work with KraftMaid for cabinets, Cambria as an alternative quartz line, and Kohler for fixtures, so you have named-brand options across the whole project. The slab batch code is recorded at order time so any future matching piece can be sourced from the same run.
